Oh, sure, but when I play my music, I get nothing but complaints about "Oldies." (What The H?)

... to be fair, it was Oldest who complained about my music.

Middle Daughter's feature here, "What The H?" is supposed to run on Sundays. But I'm running it today. What are you, the Blog Police? Back off, Buddy. Anyway, not long ago, she took my old vinyl LP of "Arena" from Duran Duran, and this is the result:

So this has been an ongoing debate for me. I really like and appreciate Duran Duran. I think that they are talented and that their music is wonderful although I am in a little bit of a pickle because I cannot decide which song is better: Rio or Hungry like the Wolf.

After listening to Rio for the hundredth time while analyzing the lyrics I have come to the conclusion that Rio is very romantic song about how a man is in love with a girl named Rio and she doesn’t know that she is beautiful to him and that he has put her up on a higher level. (Although it doesn’t take a genius to figure that one out. All one would have to do is listen to the song once and listen carefully to the lyrics.)

So after I listened to Rio I listened to Hungry like the Wolf. With Hungry like the Wolf it was as if he is searching for his perfect women (or his perfect prey). He is searching high and low and all over for this perfect woman because he is craving her. (At least that is what I got. If there are any other interpretations of the song, I would love to hear them)

All in all, the songs are very similar. With Rio he is in love with a girl because he thinks that she is perfect and with Hungry like the Wolf a man is hunting and searching for his perfect woman. Both of these songs are about love in one way or another.

I am a HUGE fan of love songs (yeah yeah laugh it up, whatever) and I love both of these songs and I love them even more after having analyzed the lyrics and listened to them again. But I made a choice and I think that Rio is the better of the two.

With that I would like to start a poll and see which song is better for other readers out there. So please cast your vote and let me know the reason why I am very curious which one survives the test of all time.
