"I wasn't some unserious church girl from Nebraska, who had only ever handled pet-store geckos, or some inlander, "Rebecca" or "Mary," a pigtailed zoo volunteer. The kind of girl who liked to do those drugstore paint-by-number watercolors of horses. Shetland ponies. Palominos. I bet the Marys were really excellent at that."

I've thought about reading that book. I'm not sure I'll get to it, though.
I love that backpack... the one I use for work is so boring.
Andrew: Karen Russell is great. This is my second book I've read (listened to) by her, and I love them both. She writes weirdly sort-of-horror but not really stories. They are definitely NOT horror stories I mean, but they have a similar effect, at times, while also being charming and fun to read.
Rusty: I have several backpacks I now use routinely, including "Spongebob" and Star Wars Angry Birds. I take them with me to court.
