Question of the Day: 7.
If you ask someone about a hypothetical present that you might get them for Christmas, and they say they would like that present, are you then obligated to get that present for that person?
I was talking to Mom last night, and asked her about a biography of Jane Austen that I saw, and asked specifically whether Mom would like that as a gift for Christmas. I explained that I knew she liked Jane Austen's books, but was unsure whether she would also like a book about Jane Austen. Mom said that she would, in fact, like a biography of Jane Austen, if I were inclined to get her that for Christmas.
So now, do I have to buy that for her? Or am I free to get some other present?
