Why I Hate People: The Kim And Kanye Wedding Special Series!

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are getting married May 24th.  You probably knew that.

If you watch the wedding, if you buy merchandise associated with the Kardashians (including people who advertise on their show), if you buy Kanye West's albums or his shoes or whatever #(%&$ thing he's up to now, you are a horrible person.

Not as horrible a person as they are, but pretty bad, nonetheless.

All this week, I will show you why.  Here's

REASON #1 GIVING MONEY TO KIM KARDASHIAN AND KANYE WEST MAKES YOU A TERRIBLE PERSON:

For Mother's Day, Kanye bought Kim a "wall of roses."

... and the money you give them by watching their shows, etc., helped buy that wall of roses.  Congrats!

But if he hadn't bought that wall of roses she couldn't have stood outside in her nightgown for that photo op.

Seriously, when people spend their money on stupid things I try to think of the silver lining. In this case, the folks who grew those roses were paid for them (and maybe they really need the money... doesn't everyone who lives normally???, the person(s) who sold the roses (there could be two of those since a floral shop often gets them from a distributor), and the person who arranged that mess. Could be the florist, but might be someone else... or several someones. So many businesses are struggling... I like to think that this crazy, outlandish gesture really did feed someone's family who needed it.

On the other hand they haven't invaded the Ukraine or sold 300 girls into slavery, so at least they aren't the worst people in the world. But close. It's so hard to believe people still care about what that idiot does, but then people still watch Survivor and The Bachelor and such too even though it always seems like the same thing year after year.

I don't want to think how many meals I could buy someone with how much I spent on Candy Crush and the like last month.

Though it would be great if instead of buying Kanye/Kardashian stuff you buy MY books so I can afford to buy a wall of roses or something equally idiotic.

Robin, you're new here but this applies to PT as well.

I've long believed that there should be an upper limit to what people should make, and that upper limit is $200,000 per adult.

I also am not against "frivolous" spending -- on Candy Crush OR Walls of Roses -- so long as the spending is matched by something equally generous. What I do is try to give to charity an amount equal to what I blow at the Dollar Store, or I do some pro bono legal work, or I buy some books from a guy like PT or something.

That way, I am free to spend some money on foolish stuff but still help people out.

As for the Ukraine and #BringBackOurGirls, there's not much I can do to alter those outcomes, but I can convince people not to fund horribleness by watching the Kardashians.

I don't even know what to say. Mostly, I only know of these people because they are always on the covers of magazines at the grocery store.
Insane wealth (including cooperate) should be put to better use.

Excess, of course. Do they give back in any way? Do they have a charity that helps anyone? I really have no idea. I don't watch their shows or buy his music, so I'm doing my part!

No, I didn't know that. I have this obliviousness thing that I turn on when it comes to "celebrities" like that. I know nothing. I see nothing.

Stephanie:

You'll see tomorrow how much they give back. (Hint: NOTHING.)

Wall of roses? I'm behind in my news...but I only know what's on the front covers of the magazines at the grocery check-out. I've never watched the show, nor would I know what a Kanye song sounds like. They don't make real music anymore...

I find your "upper limit to what an adult should make" a totally fascinating concept definitely worth exploring, as well as your idea of buying Pat's books so you can goof around at the dollar store ;-)
