Paul Allen, You Suck. (This Is Why I Hate People)

I try to be so positive and almost never post any entries in this category. But then I go read The Chive and they've got a bunch of photos of Paul Allen's yacht, and it looks like that picture off to the right, here.

And they say it cost $160,000,000.

One hundred and sixty million dollars, for a boat.

But not just any boat. A boat with a swimming pool in it:

Because where are you going to swim... on a boat?

Just... God Damn. I don't even know what to say. There are 300 million people in America, more or less. The median household income in the U.S. is $50,000; half the people in the U.S. make less than $50,000 per year.

Paul Allen could take his stupid yacht and the stupid $160,000,000 he spent on it, and give $25,000 to 6,400 families, thereby increasing their annual income by 50%. And it wouldn't have to stop there. According to reports, Allen spends $384,000 a week on upkeep and paying his crew.

A week.

Just... God Damn.

So every week, Paul Allen could give $50,000 to a family; 52 families a year could double their income, and it wouldn't even hurt Paul Allen's bottom line.

I don't know how you sleep at night, knowing that you're hoarding resources while people are starving and unable to pay their medical bills and otherwise having horrible horrible troubles. I don't know how you keep all that money selfishly to yourself. I suppose to salve your conscience, you have to be rocked to sleep by the gentle motion of the waves under your hateful $160,000,000 yacht.

There's not much I can do about this, but there's something: Paul Allen is a part owner of the Seahawks, and I'll never root for them again, no matter what. I will actively root against them.

Come on, he's probably left a couple bucks in a tip jar at Starbucks or something.

It's especially sad because he made his money as Bill Gates's sidekick in starting Microsoft. I'm not sure who was riding whose coattails there.

Don't get me started on these rich people hoarding their money. It's sick, but that's capitalism.

Though if you want to think about it positively, he's employing all those sailors and servants who might otherwise be jobless. Hooray for trickle-down economics!
