Nothing says "I'm totally serious" like an emoticon. 0.o

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of POWOW Messenger for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

splash.pngHere is the one thing that the younger generation has come up with that I have wholeheartedly embraced:

Text messaging.

(You were SURE I was going to say “hot dog stuffed pizza crust,” weren’t you – but that was NOT thought up by today’s youth. It was thought up by Leonardo Da Vinci, in between sawing alligator skulls in half to see if they were really made of ‘ether.’ Oh, you wacky Renaissance scientists! Nowadays, we know that alligators aren’t filled with ether! We’ve collided alligators and crocodiles in the Large Hadron Supercollider and we know that they’re made of Higgs Bosons! Or ice cream! Either way!)

Ahem. Text messaging is what I was talking about, and specifically this new app I got, POWOW.

Specifically, POWOW Messenger for Android.

POWOW

I’m not up on all this hipster-tech lingo, so when they say things like “POWOW has One-to-one native text messaging in the same place as group messaging,” I’m not sure what that means.  Here’s what I know: POWOW lets me use text messages more effectively.

I have to text to a lot of different groups. I have my kids – Oldest, Middle, and The Boy (Mr F and Mr Bunches don’t get texts.)(Yet). Then I have work - -with law clerks in particular communicating with me by text.  And then there’s friends. (Yes, I have one.)(So, technically, there’s friend.)

The point is, when you text to a group, you get (ordinarily) replies from individuals that are not sent back to the group – and you have to forward around and nobody knows what anyone else is saying, so on a typical day I might text to the kids:

Who can babysit tomorrow night?

And instead of getting one message (“Not me”) back that I have to forward, with POWOW, the whole group will see who’s volunteering and who’s slacking off.

Which is great, because it’s easier than texting and retexting. I’m not made of thumbs, you know. (Or is it “thumbs don’t grow on trees”? I get confused.)

POWOW has other features – I can block people out with the blacklist, it’s faster than other text messaging services, and I can even “Mute” some people, not getting their texts for a while but keeping their old ones.  There’s improvements in storage, and it even has faster access to emoticons, so I can more easily say “Who can babysit tomorrow   >:p   “ to let them know I’m serious.

Oh, and it’s FREE. That’s cool, too. So what are you waiting for? Go download it.

Now.

*Sigh*. Fine.  Here:

Go download it, now!    >:p

I'm sure my phone is too primitive for that.

probably "not made of thumbs." I think those guys that are made of thumbs were in one of the Spy Kids movies.
